If it is something of a sore subject, then I would avoid anything that would draw unneeded attention towards it. Meaning something more simple or something that has a piece hanging down in the center to draw attention elsewhere. Anything that is shiny or glints would certainly draw eyes towards where that scar is and probably cause her more undue ire than is necessary...
